found someone upgrading their roof solar panels, cash talks and walks.
2 are on the station bank, and the other 2 on the house bank. nice solid 8amps at 45volts or so thru the MPPT controllers for each pair. not bad for “used”….
well, i sent the new ebike pack out, as the new charge balance board was doing ok.
so they ran it hard, i mean really hard, charged it up fine, then ran it even harder still, till the smoke came out. i don’t know if you’ve ever seen lithium battery fires, youtube can show you, these cells have the equivalent of a few dozen laptops together, so the fire hazard was very real.
lucky, it was just the huge cutoff transistors that melted away. they must have not been fully “on” with my tap to the balancer board, as the fuses did not blow rated 250amps.
gonna be hard to remove them from the heat sink.
never seen inside one of these before.
now i know how the terminals work, can see the rest of them still attached to the PCB. i think i’ll do a breaker and shunt instead, a smart display and current monitor, and use the big contactor on the bike as the cutoff.
stay tuned…
so looks like the smoke stayed in. all new 14x 48v 40Ah lithium cells, and a new charge balancer board. i couldnt find one that does 250amps, so i put the 50amp board to the charger, and tapped the cuttoff fet gates to the original 250A board to the motor. way more kick in the pants than i am comfortable on 2 wheels with. quantya.
one week left in Taurus, so here’s a report on the greenery.
newest camper (not mine) has doubled size and awareness in 2 weeks, you know how they are at this age, chewin and poopin….
mom and dad have taken to hiding out in the house and garage to get away from the newly fledged kids wont leave them alone, plus it’s warm on foggy days.
these peas are very similar to natives i guess, no bugs chowin on them and soooo sweet too? the experiment of using sunflowers for trellis timing was off, (volunteer too early, purpose too late) but they don’t hate each other so far…
this is one mustard plant. pinched along to maximize seed. fence is 5′ tall.
recycled redwood berry box 2nd version. needing the bird netting now thus the end sticks up.
early box already rotating, more dill and lettuce in the blank where 2 lbs of winter potatoes came out. take that foodco !!!
on the wrong antenna, i can still get decent pics from the International Space Station SSTV transmissions. i guess this is a short-time-trial thing, rumor is they will be sending live pics in the future?
best catch, Yuri G !!!
my dream woman, astronaut, playing with ham radio in orbit <swoon>.
this would have been a great catch, but was near direct overhead pass, and vertical antenna is deaf straight up :(
fading pass, serious doppler shift makes the frame drag to the right.
